Body Kits for Dodge Vehicles
Adding or replacing any type of part or accessory to the exterior of your car is always a personal choice. Doesn't matter if you're trying to make your vehicle look like a Sick Street Machine you've seen in the movies or you have your own unique style, the process is the same Research, Deciding, Buying and Installation.
Here is some basic information about body kits that may help you achieve the type of look you want your car to have.Body kits come in three basic styles...
- Lip Body Kits
- Replacement Body Kits
- Wide Body Kits
Lip body kits mount over the OEM front and rear bumpers. These are the easiest kits to install. Replacement body kits are installed after the OEM front and rear bumpers are removed from the vehicle. Wide body kits are like replacement body kits which involves removing the bumpers but are more involved due to the fact that they widen the width of your vehicle.
Aside from the above types of body kits, the materials used to manufacture body kits is another consideration you need to think about. The two common materials used in the fabrication of body kits are Urethane and Fiberglass. Urethane is flexible and can be easily installed. Depending on your needs, you may have to choose one over the other. Take for instance, if you live in a place where the weather is extreme and the roads are rough and bumpy, then urethane might be a better choice. Urethane does not break easily and can withstand damages. If you live in a place where the roads are smooth and the weather is fine, then fiberglass could be a way to go.
The installation of body kits is another area that must be dealt with. Are you going to install the kit parts yourself or are you going to have experts at the local body shop install them. This may determine the type of kit such as lip, replacement or wide body kits you end up buying.
