This years Mitsubishi Eclipse is a carryover from 2008. The Mitsubishi Eclipse now feature a dark, trapezoidal fascia borrowed from the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. The rear end is slightly revised as well. The Mitsubishi Eclipse is available in both coupe and convertible body styles, with the convertible known as the Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder.
The Mitsubishi Eclipse coupe and Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder convertible get a noticeable face lift. Each of these body styles are available in two different trims, the GS and the GT. In the Mitsubishi Eclipse GS models, its power comes from a 2.4 liter, cast iron, SOHC, 16 valve In line 4 engine that delivers 147 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and produces 158 pounds per foot of torque at 4,000 rpm. A 5 speed manual or 4 speed automatic transmission are available. The fuel economy ratings of the Mitsubishi Eclipse GS is 20 miles per gallon on city streets and 28 miles per gallon on the highway.
The Mitsubishi Eclipse GT trim is equipped with a 3.8 liter V6 engine that generates a much more robust 265 horsepower and 262 lb ft of torque, and features a new dual exhaust that adds 2 horsepower and 2 ft lb of torque. The Mitsubishi Eclipse GT model can achieve a speed of 60 miles per hour in 6.8 seconds. With the option of a five speed manual transmission or the patented Sportronic sequential shift 4 speed automatic transmission with Adaptive Shift Control, you're never left out in the cold. Fuel economy is rated at 16 miles per gallon in city driving and 25 miles per gallon during highway cruising with the manual transmission. Fuel economy is slightly lower in the coupe than in the convertible for the 4 cylinder Mitsubishi Eclipse GS trim.
